Prelude in G Minor

Two-thirds of the way through the keys, and I hit a bit of a block here, in that I've used up an idea I wasn't sure about in a way I wasn't too sure of. So this wound up a bit unusual, and I'm not sure if I like it yet. But! The fun of a deadline, even one which is self-imposed, is that the work must be done when it must be done.

So here's a PDF of the Prelude in G Minor, and the images are below.

Hymn-A-Week #15

Today I asked a friend to pick a hymn at random (choose a number, I'll find it in the hymnal) and I used that for a text rhythm. So in this case, the rhythm is a short-meter, doubled, as from "Crown Him with Many Crowns."

Prelude in G Major

A little longer, a little more... standard form, I suppose. I like it, anyway.

Here's a PDF!

Hymn-A-Week #14

Another text rhythm I don't think I've tried before. Four sevens. Figured there was no reason not to, except that the first hymn with this rhythm that comes to mind is "Forty Days and Forty Nights," which really doesn't go with this tune. Ah, well, there are others.

Prelude in F-sharp Minor

Get your snappiest stops on and limber up those wrists and ankles. The Prelude in F-sharp Minor is all in repeated staccato pairs. A little fughetta for fun, in four equal voices; where the pedal is called for, just couple the manual down, and where you can reach it all in two hands (or in one) the pedal isn't necessary.

Have fun!

Prelude in G-flat Major

A little trio in five, up in the black notes. I think it might be a little long for its repetitiveness, but I'd have to give it a good run to be sure.

Here it is:
