Prelude in F Minor

A quick-tempo monophonic romp marking my halfway point through the 24 keys. I suppose I'm committed to this for at least the next three months!

It's also my fiftieth piece of music uploaded to this blog! Hurrah!

And here is a PDF of all these notes.

Hymn-A-Week #11

A little more unusual meter this time - 8 7 8 7 8 7. "Sing, my Tongue, the Glorious Battle" seems to work best. A little bit of old German choral rhythm for fun.

Prelude in F Major

Pedal solo! With a simple chordal accompaniment in the hands. Free to drift, a bit more recit than aria.

Eleven down. Thirteen more to have a complete key cycle!

Hymn-A-Week #10

Back to long meter, which seems to be pretty common. At a friend's suggestion of "All Creatures," I thought about Old 100th and "All Creatures That on Earth do Dwell"; she was thinking more about Lasst uns Erfreuen and "All Creatures of Our God and King," but in the end, this is what we got.

Prelude in E Minor... ish.

A three-voice canon in the Phrygian mode on E. Even though it's not exactly E Minor, I'm using it in as my tenth weekly prelude, and since I'm the one that sets the rules no one can stop me. No one!

Anyway. Here it is. A quasi-gigue. Distribute manuals and pedals as you see fit, although playing with three distinct voices can be lovely.

Hymn-A-Week #9

Having missed last week, I figured it would be nice to write a longer hymn. Based on the text "Deck Thyself, My Soul, with Gladness," a tune in double-long-meter. It needs a fairly slow but constant, steady pace, to my ears.

Prelude in E Major

No weekly hymn this week due to the tremendous drain on my energy that was the RCCO convention here at home. But! I still managed to get a prelude out to the world.

Prelude in E-flat Minor

Basso ostinato, inspired by mid-Baroque passacaglia and chaconne works. I've always loved a good passacaglia.

Without further ado...
